Learn the real reason for indigestion.
Once you know the reason for indigestion, the cure is simple! Eliminate the use of dangerous drugs and use a natural heartburn treatment.
Anyone who has studied any human biology remembers the phrases "fight
or flight" and "rest and digest." They refer to the two conditions of the human body.
You are either in one condition or the other at any given moment. Preferably,
you will spend most of your time in the rest and digest state. The point is that
your body will not be able to digest the food you eat when your body is in a fight
or flight condition. That means that it does not produce stomach acid in
Unfortunately, almost everyone spends much of their time these days in a
fight or flight state because of the stressful lives we lead. The constant stimulation
of TV, radio, cell phones, ipods, computers, and traffic causes high stress, even
for those of us so used to it that we don't recognize it. This means that we have
difficulty digesting our food due to DECREASED stomach acid, not
too much as we've been led to believe.
The hydrochloric acid produced by the stomach lining helps break down the food.
When the acid level is high enough, the valve leading to the small intestine opens
and food begins to move down the digestive tract. It's in the small intestine that
the body extracts the nutrition from the food. When we're stressed out, there
is not enough hydrochloric acid produced to open the valve and the food
remains in the stomach, churning around and around. We feel full and sometimes
a little nauseated. After awhile, we may experience some acid reflux. Because
we listen to advertising, we reach for the antacids and find temporary relief for our indigestion.
We may even have a prescription drug to relieve the acid problem.
A report published by Grocery Headquarters Magazine NYC in 2003 shows sales of over-the-counter antacid preparations of well over $17 million!!! These preparations neutralize the hydrochloric acid in the stomach, causing a big problem with digestion. Partially broken-down, rotting food is forced into the digestive tract. When digestion is incomplete, we can't use the nutrients that are in our food, even if you eat nutrient-rich food (rare these days due to growing techniques). Minerals are especially difficult to digest in a low acid condition. We begin to starve even when we overeat! The digestive tract becomes weaker and weaker, we suffer from bloating, gas, constipation, diarrhea, or both (irritable bowel syndrome). Our bodies become havens for parasites because the stomach acid is supposed to sterilize our food and kill the parasites. Lots of us then go on to have yeast overgrowth and related skin conditions. We can't digest the protein in our diet and auto-immune and degenerative conditions begin. Many of the antacids also contain aluminum, which is toxic, very difficult to get rid of, and is linked to both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
Well, guess what. The acid causing the problem is the result of rotting food, not too much hydrochloric acid. Eventually, there will be enough acid (the wrong kind) to open the valve to the small intestine. But in the meantime, the food will back up into the esophagus where the valve is not as strong and it burns--acid reflux, otherwise known as indigestion! There are a few ways to address this problem, but acid-reducing medicine is not the way. If your body is trying to digest rotten food, how much nutrition do you think you'll be getting from it? The point is, your health is at stake. Those antacids are affecting everything about your health!
The solution is to improve your digestion, not further impair it. For many people, this is extremely simple and works right away. Try drinking a glass of water a half hour before eating. Others may need a little more help, depending on their history. Stop the suffering now, get help for your indigestion.
